Did you know that children lose early memories around age seven? if a caring adult weaves those memories into a story, children retain the stories even though they have lost the actual memories (Emory University). In this workshop you and your school-age child will be equal partners, using simple collage techniques and writing to transform one of your family’s stories into a keepsake. Together you will paint the story settings for one of your family memories. Your child will draw and color the characters, adults will cut and glue, and you will write the story together. You will leave with a portfolio of art and a story suitable for display and sharing with other family members. Parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles welcome. No art or writing experience is necessary. All materials provided.
