How have seasons influenced your work in creative arts? The Bristol Art Museum invites you to share your seasonal interpretive work in an exhibit which will be on view to the public from January 22, 2024, through February 23, 2024, in the Community Gallery at Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope Street, Bristol, Rhode Island.
About the Juror Stephanie Stroud received a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design where she majored in illustration. A fiber artist who “paints with wool,” she creates impressionistic felted paintings inspired by nature. Primarily a landscape artist, she is inspired by the variation in landscape that the world around us offers. Stephanie shows her work at regional art shows including the South Coast Artists Open Studio Tour. Stephanie is a Custom Framing Designer at Riverside Art in Somerset Massachusetts and is currently the Membership Chair for South Coast Artists. "Live each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each." Henry David Thoreau Different groups and cultures observe and celebrate the passage of seasons in their own way. Winter, spring, summer, fall – each manifest itself in unique, climatic fashion and mood. Others simplify it to the duality of meteorological consequences – rainy season versus dry season, or significant ecological events – hurricane season, harvest season, forest fire season. Religious groups base their seasonal calendar on liturgical events. Astrologers recognize the characteristics and influences of celestial signs and seasons. Humanists cite the stages or seasons of the life cycle – birth through old age. "Every season has a reason. Summer cannot do the works of winter, nor winter the works of summer. Each season is unique yet so important, so cherish the seasons in your life." Gugu Mona "Often when you think you’re at the end of something, you’re at the beginning of something else." Fred Rogers |
