Announce a Juried Call for Art

Juror Blayney Norton-Hayes

 Homage - Barrymore in Bristol

Ethel Barrymore & Ethel Barrymore Colt Miglietta

Exhibition Dates: January 6 - February 14, 2026
Location: Linden Place Mansion, Bristol, RI
No Entry Fee
Deadline for Submissions: November 17, 2025
Cash Awards: $300 first place; $200 second place;
$100 third place
  • Artists may submit multiple works per vignette or to different vignettes. The only rule is that each submission must be done separately.

Overview
Linden Place Mansion will present a series of tableaux evoking the life and times of Ethel Barrymore and Ethel Barrymore Colt Miglietta, from her first visits to Bristol in 1910 through her later years. Each room will feature a vignette telling part of this story - touching on themes of celebration, women's influence, changing fashion, early film, politics, leisure, and the arts.

In conjunction with these displays in the mansion, artists are invited to create and submit original works of visual art (painting, drawing, fiber, printmaking, mixed media; no photography, film or video) that responds to the stories and themes of the celebratory vignettes.

How It Works
  • Artists may choose as many vignettes as they like for inspiration, but each artwork must be submitted separately.
  • Selected works will be displayed in the Mansion alongside that vignette during the exhibition.
  • Entries should not attempt to be literal "illustrations," but rather evoke, interpret, or respond to the people, events, fashion, or atmosphere of the the vignette's theme.

General Description of Vignettes for inspiration. You may submit artwork already created or new work. For a full description please visit Linden Place's website here.
