Braving the Light: Rhode Island Portraits in Photography and Poetry

at Roger Williams University Law School Atrium Gallery through January 9, 2012

Artist: Seth Jacobson | Reception with Artist: Friday November 4th, 2011 4-8 PM

Photography and Poetry meet in an exhibit featuring two Rhode Island artists, Seth Jacobson, photographer and Kim Baker, poet. The exhibit, sponsored by the Bristol Art Museum, is on display in the second floor atrium at the Roger Williams University Law School through January 9, 2012. In "Braving the Light: Rhode Island Portraits in Photography and Poetry" the poet imagines the story behind the selection of work by the photographer. The photographs reveal the secret lives of morning passengers at Kingston Station; an unlikely story set against the Pell Bridge in Newport; and what the pebbles rolling in the surf on the Saunderstown shoreline tell us about the cosmos and ourselves. In addition, Jacobson's RI Portrait Project Series is on display depicting community-minded working professionals.

Jacobson from Saunderstown, is a professional photographer whose work has been featured in local newspapers, Time Magazine and Grace Magazine. For the past decade, Seth has been depicting landscapes and portraits of southern RI business people and weddings. Kim Baker of Warwick is associated with the Roger Williams University School of Law, writing poetry. Her poems have been published on online and in print and essays broadcast on National Public Radio.
Hours are 9-5 pm. For summer hours contact the Law School
