The Bristol Art Museum sponsored a virtual presentation by renowned art historian, gallerist, and appraiser Michael Rose on Thursday, November 4.
Rose, who is based in Southern New England, has served as the gallery manager at the historic Providence Art Club, one of the nation’s oldest arts organizations. Through his current freelance work, Rose advises collectors and artists, provides appraisal services, teaches, and completes curatorial projects. A passionate speaker on art history and art business topics, Michael has presented and taught with numerous organizations. An experienced writer, he has published articles and reviews on art, architecture, and film for Big Red & Shiny and Art New England. In 2021, Rose began producing a weekly art column, “Inside Art,” for Rhode Island news site GoLocalProv. He also continues to write regularly for his blog Fine Art Insights and produces an accompanying podcast. Michael earned his Bachelor of Arts in Art History from Providence College and his Certificate in Appraisal Studies at New York University. He has completed additional professional development in classes at the Rhode Island School of Design, Appraisers Association of America, and the New England Museum Association. Additionally, he is an alumnus of Practice//Practice, AS220's nationally regarded residency for arts administrators. |
