Flights of Imagination is an exhibition of artwork by members of the Bristol Art Museum to explore the rich symbolism of birds, flight, and the sky. Artists are encouraged to interpret these themes broadly—whether portraying the grace of avian life, the freedom and wonder of flight, or the beauty of expansive, ever-changing skies. From realistic depictions to abstract expressions, this exhibition celebrates the boundless creativity inspired by the skies and their inhabitants.

Set against the backdrop of Blithewold’s stunning mansion and arboretum overlooking Narragansett Bay, this exhibit offers a remarkable venue for showcasing your work.

Flights of Imagination coincides with the avian-inspired outdoor sculpture exhibit by The Myth Makers, Donna Dodson and Andy Moerlein, on display at Blithewold. This internationally renowned duo brings their shared love of nature—especially birds—to life through towering sculptures, crafted from bamboo and vibrant upcycled materials, ranging from 15 to 30 feet tall. Each piece tells a unique story and complements this year’s focus on flight. Join us in celebrating creativity inspired by the skies and these remarkable works of art!
