Painterly Monotype

Painterly Monotype with Kirsten Sorensen
Thursdays, September 29th, October 6th, 13th, 20th | 10:00am-12:00pm
$120 Members/ $135 Non-Members

Monotype is a painterly medium! The effects achieved with monotypes are not usually possible in other forms of art. The artist can use a unique combination of printing and painting which can create one-of-a-kind artworks. There are endless abstract and realistic possibilities so one can produce imaginative works.
Join us in the beautiful Bristol Art Museum classroom for a journey in investigation and creativity. This class is for all levels of artists. The monotype method is an art form that is loose and free. Did you know that you could paint with ink or paint on plexiglass to create a hand pulled print?
We’ll investigate several techniques of monotype and the use of water based inks. We will also create simple drawings to trace, use tape, textures and your photographs for the prints. Your drawings and prints will lead to finished artworks.

For class registration, please contact kirstensorensen83@gmail.com.
  • BLM - The Board of Directors of the Bristol Art Museum mourn the senseless death of George Floyd and all the victims of racial injustice. The Board actively supports efforts to bridge racial disparities, to reject racism, and to work toward making Bristol a much more culturally rich and inclusive community through the arts. The Board believes art fosters learning, contemplation, and critical discourse; it recognizes positive change is achieved through active engagement with the town and residents. Change happens when communities work together to achieve common goals. Therefore, Bristol Art Museum is committed to developing exhibits and programs around equity, respect, and compassion. These are the organization's guiding principles and touchstones for moving forward.
