We’ll begin with a hands-on introduction to single-stroke-written Roman Capital letters, referring to Edward M. Catich’s “Ideal Letters.” Students will learn the stroke sequences and directions, letter proportions, and optical geometry of each letter in the Roman Capitals alphabet. From there, students will be guided to invent their own single-stroke-written alphabets and make a finished work on paper.*
Visual artists, graphic designers, type designers, and the written-letter curious are invited to participate.
*This is not a calligraphy workshop.

- 1 black bullet point POSCA acrylic paint marker
- 1 black 15mm POSCA acrylic paint marker (Students are encouraged to bring additional POSCA marker colors)
- 1 pad 100lb. Bristol Smooth finish paper, Size: 11 X 14"
