 Where in the World?

at Rogers Free Library
On View June 23rd - August 6th

Picture
"Through travel I first became aware of the outside world; it was through travel that I found my own introspective way into becoming a part of it"
Eudora Welty

Photographs often provide travelers with keepsakes and mementos. They also act as travel logs documenting experiences, perpetuating images, and recording evidence that some locales change over time. Please submit a photograph (or photographs) that you believe best reflects the significance of a destination you have visited. The work may harbor an artistic, emotional, or intellectual influence that the place or space conveyed to you. The photograph may be heightened by light and shadows or by objects and people. Possibly, it contradicts or reasserts the popular perception of the setting that became the focus of the work.

"Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

About the Juror

Lisa Bergeron is an accomplished businesswoman, life-inspired photographer, and passionate traveler. Through her lens, she artfully captures the interplay of light, color, texture, and mood to tell compelling stories and creative perspectives. Inspired by breathtaking vistas, lyrical scenes, and the vibrant tapestry of people and cultures, striving to evoke emotions, spark curiosity, and encapsulate the essence of a moment. Her travel photography spans scenic landscapes, dynamic street photography, intriguing subjects, and abstract imagery, offering viewers a unique opportunity to see the world—or a singular moment—through an inspired lens. Lisa has displayed her photos at the Bristol Arty Museum, Rogers Free Library, RI Center for Photographer Arts and the Newport Photo Guild exhibits at Deblois Gallery, Blithewold Gallery, and Newport Library.

Lisa is deeply dedicated to giving back to her community through volunteer work and board service. She serves on the leadership team of the Newport Photography Guild and actively contributes as a program committee member for the Bristol Art Museum.  Beyond the arts, Lisa is the Vice Chair at Hope & Main and has previously served on the boards of the American Heart Association of RI, Coastline EAP, RI Student Assistance Services, and the United Way Women’s Leadership Council. Her professional contributions have earned her several honors, including the Providence Business News Top 25 Leaders & Achievers award, and Woman of Achievement recognition from the YWCA.
