Praxis: Abstraction; 4 Strategies

Come and enjoy the exhibit on
Saturdays through September 5, 1:00 - 4:00PM

Praxis: Abstraction; 4 Strategies
Curated by Robert Rustermier

Featuring work by
Robert Rustermier | Lloyd Martin | Michael Rich | Ron Ehrlich
The exhibition Praxis: Abstraction; 4 Strategies brings together four artists working in a variety of approaches.  Essential underlying themes are space, place and time.  From Michael Rich’s reflections on place, to Lloyd Martin’s observations of the architectural incident, to Ron Ehrlich’s current exploration of time and duration, to Rustermier's examinations of fundamental shapes and their formed relationships in ambiguous space, the artists exhibiting here are all engaged in expressing ideas through form, shape, color and line.  In this way, using a variety of visual languages, a dialogue is established through the basic vocabulary of abstraction.
-- Robert Rustermier, Guest Curator

  • BLM - The Board of Directors of the Bristol Art Museum mourn the senseless death of George Floyd and all the victims of racial injustice. The Board actively supports efforts to bridge racial disparities, to reject racism, and to work toward making Bristol a much more culturally rich and inclusive community through the arts. The Board believes art fosters learning, contemplation, and critical discourse; it recognizes positive change is achieved through active engagement with the town and residents. Change happens when communities work together to achieve common goals. Therefore, Bristol Art Museum is committed to developing exhibits and programs around equity, respect, and compassion. These are the organization's guiding principles and touchstones for moving forward.
