In this class, you will draw and paint some of the most beautiful examples of nature: fruits and vegetables found in your local grocery store! Step-by-step demonstrations of composition planning, making reference drawings, transfer techniques, and choosing a watercolor palette, values, and shadows will help each artist gain confidence and pleasure in creating realistic paintings of nature's beauty!

Cast Paper Sculpture with Lisa May Tobin
May 21st, 28th & June 4th | 1:00pm-4:00pm Fee:$175 Member/$200 Non-member All materials included* Have you ever wanted to create a sculpture, but bronze, stone or metal weren’t materials easily available?! In this class you will be able to realize your dream of making a 3 dimensional artwork by using a strong, flexible, light and totally usable medium, which is paper! When I say paper I really mean plant fibers, in this case cotton and abaca(from the banana plant family!). We will explore the history of papermaking, the artistic applications of the medium and learn the basics of sheet forming. We will build our armatures that will support the handmade paper. In Class 2 we will get into the sheet forming process to apply to our sculpture. Class 3 will be a time to add the finishing touches, such as paint and decorative materials to enhance and complete our Cast Paper Sculpture. Collage and Paint Workshop with Barbara Larned

Kick up your creativity a notch with these afternoon collage workshops! Designed for all artistic levels, this is an opportunity to create collage art using text, vintage photos, graphic images, art papers and a unique assortment of random materials. Painting techniques will be introduced with step-by-step information on how to add glazes, textures and background effects with inks, watercolors and acrylic mediums. A variety of transfer and stenciling techniques will be taught as well. Materials included but feel free to bring along any of your own images.

Acrylic Painting with Kathy Thomas
Mondays, June 3rd, 10th, 17th, & 24th |1-3:30pm Fee: $100 Members/ $110 Non-members Beginning or Intermediate Acrylic Are you looking for a new hobby and thought that you might like to try acrylic painting? This class covers the basics from color mixing, applying paint to canvas, pallet knife use and techniques for blending and creating beautiful paintings from photos. Photos can be supplied by the instructor or from your own collection. Intermediate students can work independently with guidance from the instructor. All classes will end with a brief critique of your progress. A painting will be completed in the 4-weeks. |
Designing a Landscape Painting with Erin Spencer

"During this workshop we will be working in the studio as we learn how to design a landscape painting using a photograph as a reference. I will share my process of looking for shapes and values in photographs, discerning how to edit a photo, creating value sketches from them, and then translating them into paintings" Erin Spencer
This class is for oil or acrylic painters; intermediate experience recommended. Erin will be teaching using oils, but the basic principles of value, shape, and color will apply across other painting mediums.
Class materials are not included.
