The Board of Directors of the Bristol Art Museum announced that as a gesture of its gratitude to Veterans, it is offering free admission to all who served in the U.S. Armed Forces beginning on Veterans Day through November 30.
This latest initiative follows the Museum’s June 2021 designation as a Blue Star Museum. Blue Star Museums is a program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts that extended free Museum admission to active-duty military, National Guard, and Reserve personnel and up to five of their family members. The program began in June and concluded on Labor Day.
“Through this invitation to Veterans, the Bristol Art Museum is proud to recognize those who made a selfless sacrifice to serve their nation,” said Andy Tyska, Bristol Art Museum Board Chair. “Extending free Museum admission to Veterans during November and our status as a Blue Star Museum this past summer, the Museum and its Board is committed to enhancing the arts and culture offerings of the region, but also reminding those in our community of the patriotism demonstrated by those who answered a call to serve. We look forward to welcoming Veterans to the Museum during November.”
The Bristol Art Museum is currently hosting ‘All Types,’ an exhibit featuring a vast printmaking portfolio of 25 artists from the Providence Art Club. The exhibit is guest curated by artist and renowned printmaker for the Club, Carol Strause FitzSimonds, and is on display until Sunday, December 19, Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
The Bristol Art Museum encourages the creation, promotion, and appreciation of the arts through rotating exhibitions and educational opportunities. Community outreach programs and partnerships are central to its goal of engaging diverse audiences in the arts of the current time. The Museum aims to enrich the cultural life of the community and region through eclectic exhibitions and educational programs and be an accessible community resource for future generations.
